My name is Maribeth Soderberg and my life was destined for music from a very early age. My mother was my first music teacher and at 5 years old she started me on the piano. I still remember practicing while she was making dinner in the kitchen in Upper Michigan where I grew up.  She let me know that just because I didn’t succeed every time, it did not mean I wasn’t trying my best. My early love of music quickly turned into a lifestyle. Soon I was on to many other instruments including ukulele and trumpet which I played in the U of O Marching Band and Pep Band. Go Ducks! It was there that my major changed from Speech Pathology to Music.  Music was so much a part of my life that that I knew it was exactly where I was supposed to be. Now I am proficient in a variety of instruments including piano, guitar and band instruments.

Since graduating the University of Oregon, I have taught 7 years at a local private school, and privately for 25 years. I am involved in the music scene throughout the community whether it be at church, an Irish music jam session or even at The Shedd Institute at which I am an instructor.  I have even had the privilege of working with Grammy Award winner Mason Williams several times as well.

People say the best job to have is the one where you work doing what you love most. Teaching music is what I love and it has allowed me to experience moments with a student when my joy becomes their joy. If you have found my website you might be looking into how music can enhance your life. I invite everyone, from a young child just discovering music to an adult who just wished their parents had made them stick with music lesson.  I invite you to experience my love of learning music. My invitation is also extended to those who need to learn music theory for higher education or those who just want to express their heart. Let my 30 years of experience and teachings enhance your musical life.
