My name is Maribeth Soderberg and my life was destined for music from a very early age. My mother was my first music teacher and at 5 years old she started me on the piano. I still remember practicing while she was making dinner in the kitchen in Upper Michigan where I grew up. She let me know that just because I didn’t succeed every time, it did not mean I wasn’t trying my best. My early love of music quickly turned into a lifestyle. Soon I was on to many other instruments including ukulele and trumpet which I played in the U of O Marching Band and Pep Band. Go Ducks! It was there that my major changed from Speech Pathology to Music. Music was so much a part of my life that that I knew it was exactly where I was supposed to be. Now I am proficient in a variety of instruments including piano, guitar and band instruments.
Since graduating the University of Oregon, I have taught 7 years at a local private school, and privately for 25 years. I am involved in the music scene throughout the community whether it be at church, an Irish music jam session or even at The Shedd Institute at which I am an instructor. I have even had the privilege of working with Grammy Award winner Mason Williams several times as well.
